Custom chopper builder, pro skater and Bay Area native Max Schaff produced a set of Oakland Edition Era’s for the Vans Syndicate campaign. Initially previewed back in June, the shoes are now available at Caliroots. Constructed with superior materials, the attention to detail is evident throughout, combining top notch leather and fire-proof suede onto a classic platform. As an added bonus, the pack features awesome vintage motor parts packaging with matching handle bar grips and shoe bag.

I was cruising through the lil’ downtown area of the F-Dub this weekend on my Sector 9, when I decided to hit up the local skate shop to see if I could find some new shoes. Every time I darken the door of Plus, the selection of shoes pretty much overwhelms me (they have a whole freaking wall covered), and I usually sit there for a ridiculous amount of time trying to find something new to add to my collection. From that standpoint, it was my lucky day.
Vans Syndicate has teamed up with Max Schaaf (Skater, Bike Builder) to produce a pair of old school-era shoes with a fresh look. The pack consists of both the Mountain Edition and Era 79. Vans took the high road by constructing these kicks with premium leather, suede, rugged canvas, and triple-stitching throughout. The custom badging and gold nut eyelets ensure you’ll stand out whilst wearing these – in a good way. And to sweeten the pot, the shoes come in a vintage-style box with a cotton shoe bag and matching handle grips.
Not only are these shoes pretty clean, but I’m now 1/1000th closer to building my custom bike.
